I am guessing you are referring to this one, since several people have inquired about him today. He has fly bites and calluses. He was made APC for bad behavior with staff. I think it is very mouthy and tries to jump up and bite every one or protects the cage. I am not exactly sure, but Peggy told me there was a problem with staff handling him, which is why he was made rescue only. If you want him, I would send someone for him ASAP. I will not be back in the office until Tuesday.

She's been rehabilitated and now they will have to kill her for room if a rescue does not take her.

THIS GIRL HAS VERY LITTLE TIME SHE IS NOW AT LANCASTER ANIMAL SHELTER AND HAS TILL 8-5-10.

STARVED AND ABANDONED AND NEAR DEATH, OUR LANCASTER VOLUNTEERS HAVE NURSED BACK TO HEALTH AND NOW SHE WILL END UP IN THE BACK.

LETS NOT LET THAT HAPPEN TO ANGIE, SHE IS 4 YRS OLD AND A BEAUTIFUL DOG.

Jake 0722072810. Big Jake, this big, beautiful pure-bred German Shepherd needs our help. He was adopted from the shelter maybe a couple of years ago, and now he is back, due to absolutely no fault of his own. His owner has cancer and can no longer care for him. Not sure of the exact age but he seems to be a strong, healthy, young adult, with a healthy weight and coat. Although he may need a bit of work on his leash manners, he has a great temperament, and is even already neutered. If you can give him a new home, he will give you his heart.

If you can help, please act as soon as you possibly can. Adoptions are slow and very many really great animals keep coming to our small shelter.

Jake is in North Carolina, near the town of Newton, and as night follows day, it is true that they willkill him as soon as there is a squeeze for space. Which is pretty much all the time. Some ACOs are really terribly frightened by big dogs, GSDs, Rottis, and the like. Especially prevalent, from my informal observations, in the south. Thisparticular shelter has a strong group of volunteers and may be entirely different.

My name is Cater Carlton. We have a sweet, pure bred German Shepherd that we cannot keep. We have found out that our daughters are allergic to her (and on top of that we feel like she doesn't get the attention she needs since our girls are so busy- but that's not the main point!) Her name is Gretchen and she is 5 years old. She is healthy and had her 5 yr. check up 2 weeks ago so is up to date with immunizations. She is very sweet and is great with kids and other dogs. We need to find her a good home as soon as possible. At this point, it won't be quite as hard on the kids if we can just get it done quickly. Hi,

My name is Mercedes Porter and I am the Rescue and Foster Program Coordinator at the Humane Society of the Black Hills in Rapid City, South Dakota. I just recently took over the program and I am trying to establish as my relationships and connections with surrounding rescues as possible. After doing some searching for German Shepherd rescues in the area, your rescue and name caught my attention.

We had a 1.5 year old Shepherd mama named Zoi surrendered to us on 6/30/2010. Her owner brought Zoi to us because she had just recently had her puppies and she could not afford to house, feed, or care for them. Zoi has 8 puppies which are mixed breed, almost all resembling sheps.

She has lived with children and seemed to be friendly with them.. ages 7 & 12. They stated that he has also lived with other dogs and cats and was playful with them as well. The dog has no known medical issues and was healthy upon her initial examination. She is definitely a staff favorite here... she has a sweet disposition and is a FANTASTIC mother.

Unfortunately, the Humane Society of the Black Hills is very full currently. I feel that it is unfair that Zoi has to lay kenneled for the majority of the day in her small kennel. I feel that a group or rescue that has more thorough breed knowledge will be able to successfully place Zoi, and her puppies, in forever homes. I'm hoping that I can find a rescue who has a foster family willing to take on Zoi and her babies.

I am hoping to place Zoi as soon as possible, either with a rescue such as yours, or with an equally reputable group. I can be contacted through this account or on my cell at (605) 381-9532 anytime. Shelter hours are Wednesday through Saturday 9:00-6:00 and Sunday 12:00-5:00. Any help, information, or further contact information would be much appreciated.

I HAVE A STAFF MEMBER TRAVELING TO THE DENVER, CO AREA ON FRIDAY 7/16, SO TRANSPORTATION TO THE AREA IS ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF. I know this is short notice, but I just recently received notice that a staff member will be headed that way... and I want to get her OUT of here.

  Hi Ladies,

I know you all have been networking Sandy the sheppie who is at the Agoura Animal Shelter. About an hour and 1/2 ago she was discovered to be seriously bloating. One of our volunteers and one of our staff rushed Sandy to MCAH. She is on the table right now being operated on by Dr. Dean. We believe the volunteers caught the symptoms in the first 1/2 hour of her bloating so we are hopeful for her survival.

How can you help? At this point it is crucially important that we find some one who can get her out of the shelter. Bloat can often be brought on by stress so bringing her back to the shelter will not be a good option. In addition she will likely need a couple of weeks if not more recovery time after the surgery so we will be looking for foster care options.

Our non profit is covering the cost of the surgery, approximately $1500 on the high side. We are hopeful that perhaps along with the networking you are doing for someone to adopt/foster her that donations could also be asked for to the non profit Malibu Pet Companions http://www.malibupetcompanions.org <http://www.malibupetcompanions.org/> which funds medical care for the homeless pets at the Agoura Animal Shelter.
As is true of every non profit our donations have been way down. Unfortunately we have been hit with some very expensive and constant medical this year. Animals are coming in to the shelter with immediate medical needs and many have not seen a vet in quite some time. In this economy if you are losing your home, can't feed your kids, the animals are sadly low priority.
Normally I would not ask for this kind of help for the non profit but we are only 1/2 way through the year and our balance is dangerously low with many more months ahead of certain additional medical needs.

Thanks Ladies for anything you may be able to do to help....and thank you for all the networking you have done so far for our Sandy. I will let you know how she is doing as soon as I hear from Dr. Dean.

This has been Lucy's life for 5 years. That little cushion in the corner of the room. She was brought to the shelter "5" years ago and this is where she has remained. She has always been overlooked for the younger dogs, year after year she has watched adopters walk by her room and never give her a second thought. She wonders why she is never the chosen one. Look at those eyes, they break your heart. What kind of life is this? Lucy is a sweet 9 year old Belgian Malinois mix and she is good with other dogs and loves people. Is there a chance that someone out there can give Lucy the home that she has never had. A home that she can only dream about, one with love and companionship. Or is this all her future holds for her?
