Hello to all,
I live in Jackson, WY and own a 4 year old GS, my hb has trained him a lot and he's a sweetheart. I love the breed, and have been on another forum trying to help with rescues, but GSD West makes more sense since I can certainly help a lot more.
I am going to start walking dogs at our local shelter, which a no kill shelter, yahoo!
Glad to meet you all,
~A

Hi Audelin ,
I am in Colorado and we often take dogs from Wyoming and so maybe we can work together sometime . I have a friend that lives south of Jackson . I often take dogs from the Riverton Wy shelter and of course the Casper metro is a nightmare for GSDs . Just recently took some puppies from there . Don't be bashful on the forum . if you find dogs that are in kill shelters please post them. Just make sure they aren't already posted .
What forum were you on ? was it german shepherds.com ?  I also belong there as do most but so much of it is in the east . We need experienced forum people on GSDwest to keep it busy and interesting . Glad that  you joined GSDwest !

Hello Connie,
thanks for the welcome and I was directed to this site by someone on the forum you mentioned. You are right, it's mostly east side based, and I asked about the west.
I must say that forum is VERY active and I'm a little disappointed to see that this one is a bit slower, but anything help, so I will be around.
I'm not sure how you find out about dogs in shelters all over Wyoming, is it on PetFinder? I know of the shelter in Idaho Falls, but in Jackson, it's a no kill one.
I'll be glad to help in any way, I'll check daily, but can also be contacted personally.

I wish that people would post on this forum more but at least the dogs are getting seen even if the people out here aren't as talkative .

I love this forum! I think it's great for rescues to be able to come here and find dogs that they might help. Wonderful idea.  Dianne

hi Audelin:

It's me from new Mexico again. How we find the dogs? Well, Connie sends me some to post. I find others from alerts on GSDs that I have and maria, in CAlifornia, sends me at least a dozen a week! Maybe it only seems that way. California has so many that they have their own forum. I am still behind the eight ball with this forum. First, I had my knees replaced in September, didn't do much on the computer for several weeks, then got back to work, and then my computer (a Mac) was overtaken by grelims -- twice! So I am using my husband's non mac, which is not as clever as a Mac, but not as dumb as a Windows machine either, as he is running Linux and Ubuntu. But you know how it is, one has to learn some new keystrokes. Since I am suffering from post anesthesia brain, learning anything is a chore right now. And I am very slow. Mac says my machine is under repair as i type, so I hope it's back with me soon. They are incredible. I think their engineers work a 24 hour shift.

Dianne

Hi Audelin - I am also from Colorado and would like to welcome you! In 2007 I was fortunate enough to adopt a wonderful boy from Connie's rescue - you can see his pic and read his story in the Happily Adopted section - his name was originally Dolf, we renamed him Conor, so both names are listed. Connie does an awesome job, and I think you will like this forum - yes, it's a little quiet, but I like to think it's quality rather than quantity.....

Enjoy your visits here!
