A volunteer writes: I met Gonzo this morning right after he was brought into the adoptions area of the shelter. He was clearly nervous as this was a very new experience for him. Gonzo is a gorgeous German Shepherd with the classic markings and look. His tail is a huge plume of fur- just majestic and beautiful. Gonza is a big dog, but so graceful in how he moves - sleek and fit and stunning. He is still a bit nervous, although so happy to be out of his kennel. Gonzo needs to become a bit more comfortable in this new environment and then he will open up a bit and be more welcoming of pets and carreses. You can tell he wants them, but is still not sure of human intent. There is no question in my mind that once he relaxes he will be very affectionate and warm, welcoming hugs and kisses and giving them in return. Please be there for him.

Tag 1: Dog is fearful and unresponsive when touched. Approaches the assessors when the game ends. Dog likely crouching, may have long lip.

Food 1: Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish's movement. Dog's body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek.

Dog to dog 2: Dog does not approach helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog.
